  1. 1. ASSUMPTION OF RISK
I understand and acknowledge that participation in the Ryan Larkin Invitational Adventure Race ("the Event") involves inherent and significant risks, both known and unknown. These risks include, but are not limited to, fatigue, sleep deprivation, impaired judgment, dehydration, heat illness, hypothermia, altitude sickness, and other medical complications associated with prolonged physical exertion. They also include falls, collisions, slips, trip hazards, steep or unstable terrain, river crossings, rockfall, avalanches, mudslides, storms, lightning, and sudden environmental changes. I understand that navigation errors, equipment failure, wildlife encounters, self-care failures, and the challenges of remote, rugged, and unsupervised environments create additional dangers. I acknowledge that medical care may be delayed or unavailable, and that transportation associated with the Event may involve additional risk. I understand that participation may result in serious injury, permanent disability, or death. I voluntarily and knowingly accept full responsibility for all such risks, whether inherent or otherwise.
  2. 2. PHYSICAL FITNESS AND MEDICAL DISCLOSURE
I certify that I am physically and mentally fit to participate in the Event. I acknowledge that I have either consulted with a medical professional or otherwise determined that I am capable of safely participating. I affirm that I have disclosed all relevant medical conditions, medications, allergies, or limitations. I understand that Event organizers may remove me from participation at any time if my condition or behavior is deemed unsafe. I further acknowledge that any pre-existing or undisclosed medical condition is solely my responsibility. I agree to comply with all required rest and hydration protocols implemented as part of the Event.
  3. 3. CONSENT TO MEDICAL TREATMENT AND REMOTE MEDICAL LIMITATIONS
In the event of illness, injury, or emergency, I authorize Event staff, medical personnel, EMTs, wilderness medical trainees under supervision, or contracted providers to administer first aid, medical care, or arrange evacuation or transportation. I understand that the remote nature of the Event means medical care may be delayed, limited, or unavailable, and that evacuation may be slow, hazardous, or impossible under certain conditions. I accept that the timing, method, or level of medical treatment may not meet typical urban standards. I agree to assume full financial responsibility for all medical treatment, evacuation, or related costs that may arise.
  4. 4. EQUIPMENT, GEAR, AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
I agree that I am solely responsible for inspecting all personal and issued equipment prior to use and for ensuring it remains in safe operating condition throughout the Event. I accept responsibility for the proper use of GPS devices, communication tools, and safety equipment issued by the organizers, and I agree to follow all rules, route cutoffs, safety briefings, and instructions from Event staff. I acknowledge my responsibility to care for the land, wildlife, and communities encountered along the route and to comply with all "Leave No Trace" principles. I further accept responsibility for any loss, damage, or misuse of issued or borrowed gear.
  5. 5. RELEASE OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by Colorado law, I hereby release, waive, and discharge Happy Canyon Ranch, 62Romeo, The Creed of Peaceful Warriors, all Event owners, directors, officers, staff, employees, contractors, volunteers, sponsors, medical personnel, partners, landowners, private property owners, Montrose County, Ouray County, San Miguel County, the City of Telluride, the United States Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and all associated governmental agencies ("Released Parties") from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, or liability arising from or relating to my participation in the Event. This includes, but is not limited to, claims arising from the NEGLIGENCE of the Released Parties, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct. This release applies to all aspects of the Event, including transportation, rest areas, camps, briefings, and pre- or post-race activities.
  6. 6. INDEMNIFICATION
I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claim, damage, liability, or expense, including attorneys' fees, arising from my actions or omissions, my failure to follow Event rules or instructions, my violation of any law, or any claim brought by a third party due to my conduct. I further agree to indemnify the Released Parties for any damage I cause to property, land, or equipment. This duty to indemnify survives the conclusion of the Event.
  7. 7. MEDIA CONSENT AND CONTENT RIGHTS
I grant the Event organizers and their authorized agents the unrestricted, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to photograph, videotape, record, or otherwise capture my image, voice, likeness, and statements, and to use such media for promotional, educational, documentary, fundraising, or related purposes. I also grant the same rights to any media I voluntarily submit to Event staff. I waive any right to inspect or approve the final materials and acknowledge that I am not entitled to compensation for their use.
  8. 8. CODE OF CONDUCT AND EVENT RULES
I agree to follow all Event rules, safety briefings, and lawful instructions issued by staff. I agree to conduct myself with integrity, respect, and sportsmanship and to refrain from harassment, discrimination, or unsafe, disruptive, or unethical behavior. I understand that any violation of these obligations may result in penalties, relocation, or removal from the Event without refund. I further acknowledge that staff decisions regarding safety and compliance are final.
  9. 9. NO REFUNDS, FORCE MAJEURE, AND EVENT MODIFICATION
I understand and agree that all fees paid for participation in the Event are non-refundable. I acknowledge that the Event may be modified, delayed, or canceled due to weather, natural disasters, safety risks, public health concerns, government orders, or any cause beyond the control of the organizers, and that no refund, credit, or rescheduling is guaranteed.
  10. 10. GOVERNING LAW, VENUE, AND ARBITRATION
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Colorado. Any dispute arising from this Agreement shall be resolved exclusively in Montrose County, Colorado. I agree that all disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, and I waive any right to participate in a class action or collective claim. Each party shall bear its own legal fees unless otherwise determined by the arbitrator.
  11. 11. SEVERABILITY AND ENTIRE AGREEMENT
If any provision of this Agreement is deemed invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties and supersedes all prior representations, discussions, or understandings.
